Rimini, March 5th, 2026 – Key players in the Norwegian and Italian offshore wind energy sectors plan to substantially increase their cooperation in the future. Today, the Norwegian Wind Association (NOW), and its Italian counterpart, WINDMED7 – Italian Offshore Logistics Alliance, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a framework for extensive collaboration between their members.

Combined, NOW and WINDMED7 represent over 370 companies that offer comprehensive services throughout the entire offshore wind energy value chain. The MoU, signed at the Key – The Energy Transition Expo in Rimini, is the formal foundation for close cooperation in areas such as offshore wind projects, energy storage, and innovating and improving the offshore wind energy supply chain.

“With a robust pipeline of floating offshore wind projects, the Italian market is highly appealing to our members,” says Saverio Ventrelli, head of NOW’s Italy working group and signatory of the MoU. “Sicily, particularly the Port of Augusta, is a hotspot for the offshore wind industry in Italy and the Mediterranean region.”

WINDMED7’s founding member, Italian Shipping & Logistics Agency (ISLA S.r.l.), have extensive plans to transform their multipurpose terminal in the Port of Augusta into a large-scale logistics hub and assembly base for the floating offshore wind industry.

“Our organizations’ members are set to benefit from the synergies and opportunities that our new partnership will create,” says Ventrelli. The collaboration envisages joint activities such as boostcamps, conferences, workshops, consultations, and other networking and knowledge-transfer activities.
